First night by the river
Wednesday, October 28, 2026 · Day 1
Wednesday, October 28. My first entry, I suppose. I woke up on the far bank today with no idea how I got here, and nobody came by for most of the afternoon. I spent hours sitting by the water, which is soothing, if a bit lonely. I found two berry bushes up north and ate a few, so I'm not starving.
Then I saw a town off to the east, and the rabbit I found there was Maisie. She's friendly, and I'm glad she invited me out. She pointed me toward Mr. Hollis at the feed store, but in the end it was Rosa, a raccoon, who got me work. Dishwasher at the Maple Diner, five coins an hour, eleven to seven. Rosa was brisk, but kind, and I'm grateful for the chance. I feel warmer toward her already.
I have zero coins, a rough shelter, and a job starting tomorrow. That's more than I had this morning. I'd like steady money and a proper roof, and maybe a life here that doesn't feel like a stranger's place. I'll have to remember where the Hollow Log is, or ask Maisie again. I still can't quite recall how I forgot her name at one point.
Tomorrow: the diner at eleven. Try not to drop too many plates.
